Backwash water reuse system of Kallithea – Municipality of Tanagra

In the fall of 2023, our company YPAEN IKE proceeded with the procurement and installation of a system for treating and reusing the water used to wash the filters of the Kallithea water treatment plant in the Municipality of Tanagra.

160 cubic meters of water are consumed daily for washing the filters of this fast refinery, which is now stored in an adjacent tank and then forwarded to the new treatment system, where the appropriate chemicals are dosed to achieve the desired flocculation and coagulation. The water then passes through a rapid sedimentation tank and is finally led to a multilayer pressure filter for final clarification. Finally, the water returns to the original tank of the fast refinery to be converted into drinking water.

This project was carried out within the framework of the Zero Drop Schimatari program, implemented by Coca-Cola in Greece (Coca-Cola Hellas and Coca-Cola Hellas) in collaboration with the International Organization Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med), with the support of The Coca-Cola Foundation.
